Sexual abuse is an especially damaging act as an enormous betrayal of trust. 90% of sexual offenders are known to the child. That means that a trusting relationship turned dangerous. The stronger the initial trust, the more the damage.

And so they don’t risk trusting again. That makes sense until you realize what it costs them: mentoring, friendships, and jobs or family later in life.
